Pyrography artist at work

Born in Cleveland, Ohio and grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Pennsylvania. He has an affinity for nature and has extensively hiked and backpacked the eastern portion of the United States. In 1959 he and his wife moved to Mentor, Ohio where they raised their eight children. Bill worked as a mechanical design engineer for various companies ending his engineering career with a twenty three year employment at Caterpillar Inc.
In 1975 he became interested in wood sculpture and in 1980, he and five others initiated the Western Reserve Wood Carvers Guild located in Mentor, Ohio.
In the process of bird and animal carving, Bill learned the art of wood burning to create feather and fur detail. This introduction to wood burning led him to use it in producing pictures which he now does commercially. Bill's wood burned art is included in private collections both in North America and in Europe. He has had the honor of being selected to judge six major wood carving competitions. His wood burned art has been displayed at the Canadian National Exposition in Toronto, Ontario and many other shows throughout the eastern United States.
